Tell the Government: Do more to tackle violence against women and girls
The Conservatives are failing women and girls.
The charge rate for rape is at a record low, a woman is killed by a man every three days and the police recorded hundreds of thousands of domestic-abuse related crimes last year alone.
Now is the time for the Government to do more – to support rape victims, improve police training and crack down on dangerous repeat offenders.
Labour has called for an increase in the number of specialist rape units in police forces to properly support vulnerable victims. We also want to see better training for police and a proper plan from the Government to tackle reoffending by dangerous perpetrators.
The Government also promised to publish a Perpetrators Strategy which we still haven’t seen – it must be published as soon as possible.
These are simple, sensible and common-sense measures to help tackle violence against women and girls and keep more women safe.
We are calling on the Government to make these changes urgently.
