Jeremy Miles MS
Member of the Senedd for Neath

I’ve spent my entire adult life campaigning for social justice, equality and fairness. I’m on the centre-left of the party and strongly committed to further devolution of powers to, and within, Wales and a better funding settlement for Wales. My priorities are strong public services and a Welsh economy that helps us reduce poverty.

I’ve announced six key pledges for Wales’ future:

1. Create quality, sustainable jobs and tackle climate change through a green economic stimulus package.

2. Invest in education by increasing the percentage of the Welsh Government budget spent on schools.

3. Cut NHS waiting lists and establish dedicated orthopaedic centres to clear backlogs.

4. Decent housing in our communities by expanding cooperative housing and tackling barriers to providing social homes.

5. Fairer fares, better transport to encourage public travel as we re-regulate the bus network.

6. A stronger voice for the people of Wales by strengthening the Senedd and securing a fairer deal for Wales in partnership with a UK Labour Government.

My manifesto has more detail on my priorities for our economy, fair work and Wales’ future.

I’ll ensure Wales continues to lead in our response to the climate and nature emergency, with a focus on renewable energy and reversing the decline in biodiversity.

You’ll see plans to refocus our approach to women’s health, including a menopause consultation at 40.

Alongside new social homes for rent, a new ‘Rent to Own’ scheme will help people struggling to buy a home.

I will work with an incoming UK Labour government on a “freedom from poverty” plan for Wales, focusing particularly on child poverty.

I will bring Welsh Labour closer to members, with a continuing mechanism for members to submit policy ideas.

I’ve been a Minister in Welsh Government Cabinets since 2017 as chief law officer, European Transition Minister, Covid Recovery and now Education Minister. As a Welsh speaker, I’m proud to be Welsh Language Minister too.

I represent the valleys and towns of Neath constituency in the Senedd. With 20 years' experience in law and commercial posts, I bring valuable senior-level business experience from outside politics too.

I’m pleased to be supported by a majority of Labour Senedd members, Constituency Labour Parties, Affiliated Societies, and Labour council leaders and deputies. I’m also the candidate that Tories and Plaid Cymru fear the most.

My vision for the future of Wales is hopeful - I hope you’ll vote for it.
