My plan for a fresh start:

I have a plan to give Wellingborough, Rushden and the villages a fresh start. My plan is focused on the issues that local people have raised with me. I want to be an MP you can be proud of, one who gets things done and who stands up for you on the issues that matter most.

Growing up in Northamptonshire to parents who both served in the armed forces, I learned the value of duty and public service. Those values have underpinned my life professionally and politically.

At the coming election you have the power to send a message to the government that enough is enough by voting for a fresh start.

How I’ll deliver my plan to give Wellingborough a fresh start:

BANG THE DRUM FOR OUR TOWN CENTRES

  • Work with traders and the Chamber of Commerce to improve and revitalise our town centre
  • Create a Visit Wellingborough taskforce to bring back more shoppers and tourists
  • Bring Christmas and themed markets back to the town
  • Protect free parking across the constituency
  • Bring together the police and council to tackle anti-social behaviour so people feel safe in our town centres
  • Back Labour’s national plan to replace business rates

WORK TO GET KNIVES OFF OUR STREETS

  • Press the police and crime commissioner to make tackling knife crime the number one priority
  • Demand our fair share of frontline police resources
  • Work with the police and our communities to ensure residents feel they have a visible police presence in our towns and neighbourhoods to reassure local residents
  • Champion community and school projects that tackle knife crime
  • Back Labour’s plan to put 13,000 new neighbourhood police and PCSOs on our streets

HELP FIX OUR
NHS

  • Listen to GPs and health professionals to assess the state of local NHS services
  • Work with stakeholders to expand the Wellingborough Hub to offer more out of hours GP appointments and end the 8am scramble
  • Fight for an urgent care centre at Isebrook Hospital to ease the pressure locally on GP surgeries and A&E.
  • Back Labour’s plan to deliver the biggest NHS recruitment and reform since its creation, to improve waiting times and survival rates

SORT OUT THE POTHOLES

  • Visitors’ first impression of our towns should not be the state of the roads
  • Set up a ‘report your pothole service’ and chase the council for action
  • Make the council acknowledge that motorists pay through the nose to drive and the roads should be in a fit state
  • Stop the council wasting your money by patching up on the cheap

PUT MORE MONEY BACK IN YOUR POCKET

  • Back Labour’s plan to tackle the cost of living crisis, which will save the average household -
  • £500 a year by insulating homes to make them more energy efficient
  • £900 a year by building cheaper, cleaner power across the country
  • £400 a year by cracking down on unfair car insurance practices
  • £1,200 a year on mortgage bills by building 1.5 million homes over a Parliament
